Esinam is a talented multi-instrumentalist who is no stranger to true Sfinks goers. She effortlessly blends afro-jazz, electronic music and percussion. Her performances are a journey through compelling sounds and beats.
A while back, she met Sibusile Xaba, from South Africa. He is a musical storyteller with a voice that can do just about anything. A click, a plan, first shows, an album, some more shows, a european tour, blazing entoesiastic reactions.
‘A cosmically poetic duo performing afro-roots-electro with a nod to spiritual jazz,’ we read. But above all, it is a blissfully sweet duo that does unlikely things with voice, percussion and elctronica, leaving everyone open-mouthed and warm-hearted. That their inspiration comes from their roots and so you hear highlife from Ghana between snatches of Zulu and Ewe from South Africa only makes it more wonderful.
