Senny Camara

Senny Camara plays kora, an instrument traditionally reserved for men.
As such she grows and expands as an artist but also as a woman.
She shares some powerful traits with her musical examples: Nina Simone, Joséphine Baker, Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie, Mahawa Kouyaté. They are all sources of inspiration for her.
Rebellious, free and combative.

But the woman she owes most is her grandmother, who raised her according to the traditions of the Serer people, in southern Senegal.
Senny Camara’s music and lyrics are powerful, authentic and sensitive.
