Brazilian rapper with unique Neo-Samba style

Emicida has been the most prominent rap artist in Brazil for at least ten years. The MC from São Paulo has gained international fame for his freestyle and battle talent. He has emerged as one of the country’s most influential cultural figures talking about Afro-Brazilian identity and the social climate in his homeland.

In 2009, Emicida self-launched his first mixtape, which immediately made him famous throughout Brazil. He has headlined all major festivals in Brazil and played at significant international music festivals such as Montreux Jazz and Roskilde Festival. He played a club tour through Europe in September 2022, which was sold-out in a short time.

The talented artist also writes soundtracks for major video games and created a successful Netflix concert documentary ‘AmarElo’. He calls the resulting album, inspired by Brazilian poetry and connection through love, a ‘social experiment’ in the new genre ‘Neo-samba’.
