DABKE LOVE Engels

LEBANON – SYRIA

Dabke (دبكة, literally: stomping) is a Levantine-Arabic folk dance that has its origins in the ancient Canaanite fertility rites, which were supposed to stimulate the growth of plants. They were used to chase away evil forces and to protect the seedlings and their growth. Amir started in 2020 at the start of corona with an instagram account and a youtube channel ‘Dabke Love’ to unite the dancers. Soon tens of thousands of dancers and enthusiasts joined. Now they dance live again, and are happy to give workshops to get everyone on the dabke!
